Greening BC Skylines Together...
Courses
GRIN’s goal is to raise educational and practical literacy about green roofs and green infrastructure in BC, such that everyone has the opportunity to understand the role these multi-functional investments provide to our communities.

Green Roofs 101
Green Roofs 101 provides students with a thorough understanding about green roofs as multi-functional tools that can support biodiversity, while also capturing stormwater runoff at source, insulating buildings, protecting the building envelope, cooling the urban heat island, and suppressing fire.
Students will acquire the knowledge and skills to design, install and maintain green roofs, with full comprehension of green roof performance. The course will deliver leading edge information on design details, construction, and implementation based on current best practices in the industry, and in BC specifically. The course is evidence-based and draws from current research, and draws from case studies. Through a combination of lectures, discussions, and collaborative project reviews, students will integrate theoretical knowledge with practical hands-on design experience.
