GRIN’s goal is to raise educational and practical literacy about green roofs and green infrastructure in BC, such that everyone has the opportunity to understand the role these multi-functional investments provide to our communities.

Green Roofs 101

  • When: Saturday February 28 from 9:30 - 15:00 (half hour for lunch)
  • Where: VanDusen Botanical Garden - Guides Classroom

We’re pleased to collaborate with Van Dusen Botanical Gardens again in 2026! Join us on Sat. Feb. 28  (9:30 am to 3:00 pm) to learn about the fundamentals of green roofs and get a head start on your Continuing Education Credits (5 hours). Register here.

This introductory course provides basic technical know-how and practical skills to design, install and maintain green roofs. It will focus on lightweight, low maintenance systems that are best suited for small DIY projects. We will explore local case studies and share top tips in selecting  plants, soils and accessories to create a successful green roof.
