Professional Trainings & Accreditations

GRIN is pleased to provide professional training and accreditations relating to green roofs, living walls, and green infrastructure. We offer certificates of completion, and continuing education credits.

In 2025, GRIN partnered with Green Roofs for Healthy Cities (GRHC) to deliver the Green Roof Professional (GRP) Training & Accreditation program in BC. This training contains all of the competencies necessary for green roof success, from building science, horticulture, irrigation, waterproofing, plant physiology, structural engineering and beyond. GRIN offers the GRP training, in person, in BC.

Once a student has completed the courses, they must register to complete the (virtual) GRP Accreditation Exam in order to earn the GRP designation. The GRP Training program comprises three modules:

  • Green Roof Design & Installation
  • Green Roof Waterproofing & Drainage
  • Green Roof Plants & Growing Media

BC residents have various options for obtaining GRP Training and Accreditation:

  • Attend GRP Training in-class
  • Attend GRP Training online
  • Combine GRP Training online and in class
  • Purchase the GRP Training Manuals, and study independently

 

In order to complete the GRP Accreditation process, candidates must:

  • Successfully complete the GRP Accreditation Exam
  • Register for and maintain a GRHC Membership, fulfilling 16 CEUs bi-annually
